About Me
Jody Heald is a highly experienced and trained piano teacher, who has worked as a professional musician in Hobart since her arrival in 1982. She has produced a number of professional musicians amongst her students, has presented at numerous conferences on music pedagogy, and conducted masterclasses and festival adjudications. She has served on Boards and committees that include Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), Australian Piano Pedagogy Conference, and led Tasmanian Music Teachers’ Association as President for more than 25 years, curating and directing its annual conferences and State-wide events until her acceptance of the Vice President role in 2023. In 2017, Jody was awarded the Order of Australia for significant service to music education in Tasmania, and in 2019 completed a PhD thesis that addressed pedagogical relationships in music.
